Hello Glitzville! We're all ready to get started with our first event, the Create-a-Team art jam!

An art jam encourages group members to draw along a certain theme without the pressure of it being a competition. Although there will be no prize, we hope that using your creativity and seeing how others interpret the jam will be reward enough. Eclipse-of-42 and I decided that a contest would not be suitable for this event, as we want you to be able to create the team you want without worrying if it's outstanding enough to win a competition.

In this jam, you'll be creating your own teams of Glitz Pit fighters! This will be our January event, and although, since it's not a competition, there is no actual deadline, you should try to be done by February so that we can kick off other things such as role-plays and the fan-character tournament, in which you can use the teams that you're creating now.

Here are some guidelines.

:bulletred: Create a single fighter, or a team of up to four.
:bulletred: Please use already-existing species from the Mario gameworld. There are quite enough to choose from. This does include humans.
:bulletred: Please create all original characters and don't use an official Mario character. We want you to contribute something new, rather than just letting everyone know of your great love for Dimentio by having him somehow wind up on your team.
:bulletred: Come up with a name for your team! And, if you want, a "nickname" (for instance, Rawk Hawk is the "feral nuclear reactor"). Jolene needs something to announce to the roaring fans!

With these in mind, get creative! You can draw us a picture of your team, but please describe them in your comments so we can get a good idea of how they act and fight, not just how they look. Tell us why they've come to the Glitz Pit and what they want to get out of it!

If you prefer writing to drawing, feel free to send a story our way! Ideally, it should creatively incorporate all of the suggestions above, but in any way you wish. Will you tell the story of how they came together and made it to Glitzville? Conduct an interview with them? Describe a fight in which they took place? It's up to you.

When you're done, submit your entry here to the club and we'll add it to a special "Custom Teams" folder.

Have fun, and let us know if you have any questions!

Welcome to the Glitzville Gallery!

Hello, everyone, and thank you for visiting! Jolene here, promoter of the Glitz Pit, to introduce you to this fine organization.

The Glitzville Gallery is-

Well, I suppose not all of you know what Glitzville itself is, so I should explain that first. If you've lived around this region for a while, it's hard to imagine that some people have never heard of it. But if you come from another kingdom, or if you've been living under a rock, or locked away in a chest for a thousand years, I won't mind giving an explanation.

Glitzville
Glitzville is a magnificent floating city located in the independent outskirts of the Mushroom Kingdom. We're kept afloat by the tourism industry: people come from all over to be a little closer to the clouds and stars, but mainly to visit the Glitz Pit. In this glorious stadium, heroes are tested and champions are born.

We gained international recognition several years back when a certain famous plumber came to town. Under the stage name "The Great Gonzales," Mario humbled (well, for a time) the cocky Rawk Hawk, saved us from the secret schemes of the greedy Grubba and restored our fallen first champion, Prince Mush. They made a game out of his adventures, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on the Gamecube. I hear it's pretty fantastic, but I don't have time for that type of thing, do you?

The Glitzville Gallery
This group is Glitzville's newly-formed artistic outreach program. We hope to show that Glitzville is a sophisticated city, not just a brutish place of mindless entertainment. We'll be collecting quality art and writing pertaining to Glitzville, the Glitz Pit, and the characters who played an important role here.

We also want to maintain a good-natured spirit of community and competition, just like the Glitz Pit itself! We plan to host many competitions and non-competitive art jams, and maybe even hold discussions!

RULES
But just like a Glitz Pit fight, there are a few rules you have to follow. I'm looking at you, Rawk. Pay attention!

First of all, please only submit works focusing on characters or events having to do specifically with Glitzville. Any of the fighters, the Yoshi Kid who was born here, Grubba, even myself (that's Jolene) if you so choose. Just a regular picture of Mario, or of Goombella standing around in Rogueport... not so much. We know they were here once, but unless you depict them here, that's too much of a stretch.

Secondly, nothing rated "adult" for sexuality. Pairing characters is fine, but please, children come to Glitzville. They expect to see fighting, so a bit of blood is ok. But don't make their mommies have to explain the workings of nature to them.

Finally, please submit quality works only. We're not going to be one of those clubs where you have to be fantastic to get accepted, but at the same time, we don't want to accept something that you drew in the margins of your math notes in 12 seconds. If we can tell it had effort put into it, it'll easily be accepted. We know that art, like training for the ring, takes patience and work, and we expect that out of everyone.

Now... WELCOME! And let the art begin!

When I first saw this group I thought it was a RPG. I think that would be kind of cool, like people could mkae their own fighters and stuff...

But anyways...

I've actually considered turning it into something like that, but I'm not sure the best way to do it. Not being a super group, which is quite expensive, limits our options, but we could have an external forum. Like I said, I want there to be a sense of community here and I'm trying to figure out some good ways to go about that. I'm open to any ideas!

Oh oh, can I butt in? If you were considering a sort of make-your-own-fighter-tournament kind of thing, maybe an OCT would be possible? Only with fancharacters. xD I can explain what that is if you don't know but yeah! That might be neat idk.

I've seen OCTs, but never really followed one. Would you mind clarifying them for me, just for the heck of it, if it's not too much trouble?

Maybe creating a chatroom would help? [link]
Maybe that could help somehow, there's lots of RPG that aren't super groups, and that's how they do it.

There could be more then one... one could be like the locker rooms, and there could be a schedule for fights. Then in the arena two people fight and others can watch...
